Road to 1.5, Chapter 3: S&R

This is a repost as we’re moving old content over to the new blogging system. Posts will hopefully appear in correct order, hehe.

Back again? Great. Search. Replace.

I know, I know, I wanted to show the new control panel, but I decided to go for something more abstract. What I’m about to show is one of the most requested features, pretty much since day one: Project-wide search and replace.

Now… a lot of people have asked why we didn’t include it in the initial release, and one reason was that we didn’t feel very comfortable offering such a potentially dangerous tool. Except for what some export plug-ins already do, there will be NO interaction between notepad and main editor. Well, that’s not entirely true, hehe, but… I won’t talk about that this time around. I will also not talk about any sort of inline notes (main editor), even though these will see quite a boost. (more…)

Road to 1.5, Chapter 1: Tabs

Monday, May 15th, 2006

New blogging backend, need to put content up, thought it’d be a good idea to repost some of the older travelogs. I’ll even try to get them in correct order, he. Have fun…

As promised, I will today present the tab-implementation for Ulysses 1.5.

When we released version 1.0, Mac OS X was at 10.2, the only applications featuring document tabs were web browsers (and a nice FTP client whose name I can’t recall; open sourced, dunno), and tabs looked like this: (more…)
