Christmas is finally over… ;-)

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Hello there.

I know it’s been quite some time since my last post. The main reason for this that there was not much news to report and that we were quite occupied doing various things. Here’s a little update now.

First, most of you will be interested in Ulysses. Ulysses did sleep for 2-3 month. We’re back on it, implementing some nice features, just like group filters, specialized print settings, new version of all exporters, etc. The plan is to give you a preview of the upcoming features by the end of this month – april 2008. ;-)

Second, I spent lots of time during the last weeks and month to work on the Localization Suite. The release of Leopard has changed several things in application development process and we had to jump on the train. I managed to get it to a stable status, adding tons of features, all tested by a huge group of beta testers. I will tell more about the changes in a succeeding post next week. The release is currently slated for may, I think.

Third, there still is this secret mysterious hidden kill app. Well – something similar at least. Originally planned for a release before christmas, then moved to early 2008, it is currently completely stopped. It’s not that the concept is bad – to be honest it’s just a lack of ressources. We’ll get back to it after Ulysses v1.6 and the LocSuite v3…

That’s it basically. More is definitely to come. We’re NOT dead. That’s all I wanted to say.

Have fun, Max

Updates, betas, and the risk of playing football

These are busy times, so this is just quick rundown on what’s going on right now. We’ve released Ulysses 1.5 beta3 internally and will hopefully have a public preview/beta available soon (yeah, I know).

The simple reason for not going public with beta3 is that we’re facing serious preference-issues, based on the fact that not all prefs were standardized and/or localizable. That lead to various problems (both with the preferences and with several sections of the application, obviously), which we knew of and didn’t want reported over and over again.

Besides that, we’re still hard at work getting the new LocSuite ready for prime time. As far as we’re concerned, it comes along quite nicely, and should no longer be the cause for delays on our side (Ulysses). (more…)
